My Approach

Initially you will be referred for treatment by your GP and I will make arrangements to see you in my consulting room in Ealing. The initial consultation usually lasts about an hour. The purpose of the meeting is to try to spend time understanding your current issues and previous experiences in order to understand what would benefit you in overcoming your difficulties. There will also be plenty of time for you to ask any questions that you have. The insight gained from discussing your issues in depth can be very important in informing our treatment plan for you to get better.

The plan we agree upon may include further investigations of any underlying contributory physical health problems, medication which either I will prescribe and monitor or will ask your GP to do so. I may arrange to see you for follow up appointments to continue our work on resolving your difficulties and these appointments typically last half an hour.

Sometimes I may refer you on to a specific therapist for treatments such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). Family Therapy (FT) or psychodynamic therapy.

I will be able to include in your plan signposting to a host of valuable resources that are available on line or in the community such as mindfulness mediation, 12 Step Programs of Recovery, self help books and podcasts.
